I have always loved writing, from being a young child. I took Literary studies at University, and developed an even deeper interest in poetry. It was to be my life-line when I became ill for an extended period, and I wrote poetry as part of my therapy. It also helped significantly when my husband was diagnosed with terminal illness in 2008. I enjoy journal writing, and also short stories for adults and children. I have some ideas for a book I would like to write, and this is what I am concentrating on at the moment. My husband asked me to write this book 'whatever happened', so this is a great motivation for me. I am using the idea and art of 'story telling' as a healing vehicle for readers and myself alike. I loved the work and prolific writing of John Ruskin, and the poet Edward Thomas. I also studied some of the African writers such as Chinua Achebe, and the wonderful Buchi Emecheta, whose novel 'The Joys of Motherhood' I read whilst suffering very bad Pregnancy sickness...joy indeed! I have also studied the work of Sylvia Plath, and she has been a significant influence on my work...especially my poetry. All in all...writing is what I love doing most, and as long as I have a pen and some paper, and an imagination...I'm in business!
