Author,Children's Book Illustrator, Artist, and Book Publisher

Zander, the main character in "Sleepytown".

Background Information

(The photo includes my inspiration for the little boy in SleepyTown, Zander.)

I am an Author, Illustrator, and a Publisher.

I started "Sleepytown Press" in January of 2010. Check it out at and contact me, if I can be of help to you.

I currently have seventeen Authors who are members of the SP Family. I publish Children's Books, Young Adult, Adult, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Devotionals, Cookbooks, Self-Help, Mystery, and just about anything that you care to write.

As a child, I loved dogs, crawfish, fireworks, and my microscope set. I had a pet lizard in a glass bowl with a stick in the middle. Sadly, my lizard is no longer with me. (He would be really old by now.) In a weak moment, my mom offered me money to get rid of the lizard. I was broke, so I took the lizard outside and let it go. His name was Oscar.

I always loved to read. I remember finding The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet by Eleanor Cameron. I fell in love with that book. I dreamed of flying in space. It has always held the position of *My Favorite Book*. I do love all kinds of Science Fiction and Fantasy as well. I grew up with Lost in Space and My Favorite Martian.

We had horses, when I was a child, and belonged to a saddle club. This was fun. The club had rides on the weekends, and sometimes we camped-out. My favorite horse was very gentle. Her name was Ginger.

I love writing, too. Sometimes, I write poetry. Sometimes, I write Children's Stories. Other times, I just write something to be writing.  Finally, I get to see my life-long dream come true. I get to combine Art and Writing into a completed book.

My stories have pieces of me in them, all mixed in with the made-up parts. That's what writers do, mix in the real stuff with the made-up stuff, and they can create any kind of world or special place. What could be better than that?

Once, many years ago I received a special award as Educator of The Year from a local business club. I had a craft book published by Plaid Enterprises. I have a Short Story published by Morpheous Tales. My book "Sleepytown" is available for purchase. I work very hard publishing books for authors.

Several years ago, I had a morning talk-show on a local radio station. It was a lot of fun. There have been times that I have been in stores and have people say they recognize my voice from the radio. That is cool!

Believe it or not, but many years ago, I cooked on television. I went to Birmingham and cooked on tv for a cook-off contest. It was fun, but I did not win. We were in the major mall there. I cooked pork chops.

Additional Information

I am currently taking submissions for a Poetry Anthology that I am going to publish in December. It is FREE to enter up to "ten" poems for consideration for the anthology. Cost to you: Nothing! I am taking submissions for a FREE Short Story Anthology that will be published in 2012. Authors are invited to send "three" short stories. Cost to you: Nothing!
