Now that I've been alive for 60 years, instead of looking for the meaning of life outside, I look for it within my own life journey. Join me as I search for the next step, looking for ways to tell the stories of life.

In my 40's, after working a couple of decades as a computer programmer and technical writer, I wanted to learn more about people, and find ways to connect with and serve them, so I went to graduate school and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. From there, I began writing, first on my website.
The more i wrote, the more interested I became in the craft of writing, and the power of writing to reach people. So I started writing about writing. I gave workshops on writing, and wrote my first book, based on those workshops "Four Elements for Writers," a self-help guide to help people overcome blocks. My reviewers said my writing wasn't personal enough, so I became interested in writing about my own life. My problem was that I had never written about myself, but after 15 years in therapy had talked about myself a lot, and had seen the value of life story. So I began studying and learning about memoir writing. While researching how to write my own memoir, I broke the process down into simple steps, resulting in my second self-help book, "Learn to Write your Memoir in 4 Weeks, a Step by Step Guide to Recording the Stories of Your Life." Both books are available from www.jerrywaxler.com
As I continue to learn about life, and continue to grow, I have been blogging about memoir writing for the last year, and have begun to connect with a lovely network of readers and writers interested in writing about life. The blog is at: www.memorywritersnetwork.com/blog
