Robbie Gomez: A Style as Funky as it is Classy

Background Information

Robert (Robbie) Pastor Gomez III was born November 14, 1989 in Royal Oak, MI to Robert II and Laura Gomez.

His father, Robert II was a standout football player at Annunciation High School in Detroit, MI, eventually walking onto Michigan State's football team as a defensive tackle before leaving to serve in the Vietnam War where he rose to the level of Staff Sergeant. Upon returning from his military service, Robert II earned his Bachelor's from Michigan State University.

His mother, Laura, grew up in Wyandotte, MI before earning her Bachelor's from Michigan State, as well. She went on to become a successful Physician's Assistant and an accomplished horseback rider.

In addition to his first published work, Book in Black, Robbie Gomez has served as a staff writer for the Monroe Street Journal (official newspaper of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan) and has been a contributing writer for mgoblog.com - a website dedicated to the Michigan Wolverines. He also wrote official press releases for the U-M men's water polo team from 2008-2010 and has been the PR Manager for Ann Arbor, MI-based non-profit WILL WORK FOR FOOD.

When Robbie Gomez is not writing, he is the lead singer/violist with the metro Detroit-based band, the Submarine Racers. At the University of Michigan, he was a 4-year member of the men's water polo team, where he doubled as the team president his junior and senior years. Additionally, in 2011, he served as an age-group swim coach for the Saline Stingrays Swim Team.

Robbie Gomez is a recent 2011 graduate of the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) where he received his BBA from the Ross School of Business with a minor in Latina/o Studies. In the past, he has held marketing internships with Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI), Palace Sports & Entertainment (Auburn Hills, MI) and the Plymouth Whalers (Plymouth, MI).
