Debbie "Rica" Wilson, president/founder of Brown Sugar, Incorporated, is a poet, performer, and motivational speaker. She received her B.A. in English from St. Augustine 's College and her M.A. in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling.
She has taught at Howard University, Morgan State University, and University of Maryland (Pre-College Programs). She has also worked as a public school teacher, event coordinator, outreach director, and licensed youth minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Rica is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and author of Sweet Cornbread: Poems about Life, Four-Leaf Clovers: Poems for Youth, and Soul Candy: Poems for the Fearless. She enjoys cooking, singing, and spending time with her family.
