Latorial Faison is an American poet and author born and raised in rural Virginia. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech where she studied English Literature. Faison has been published in RiverSedge, Southern Women's Review, ChickenBones, Red River Review, BET's Digital Drum, the NAACP Image Award winning book Keeping the Faith, and elsewhere.
Faison has taught English across the country. She has authored six books including the ultimate African American history collection, the trilogy of books titled 28 Days of Poetry Celebrating Black History. Currently, Faison lives in South Korea with her husband and three sons where she recently joined the faculty of Sejong University as an Assistant English Professor. Author of one chapbook, Realities (2004) and six books, Secrets of My Soul (2001), Immaculate Perceptions (2003), 28 Days of Poetry Celebrating Black History I, II & III (2006, 2008, 20012), and Kendall's Golf Lesson (2006).
In addition, Faison has won a number of poetry contests and has also been published in two chapbooks: I LOVE YOU POETRY (2004) and EVERY POEM IS AN IDEA (2004). Faison's poetry has been published in the University of Toledo's POEMS FOR PEACE project, and in 2003 some of her poetry was presented along with thousands of other poets to Congress in a POETS AGAINST THE WAR initiative. Faison's writing has been featured in various publications in print, online and internationally.
