Thank you for for stopping by to inquire about me. Writing and reading are two of my greatest passions. I started writing when I was 8 years old after completing a school assignment that was to be about a person that inspired us. I choose Frederick Douglass, the great abolitionist and orator. So inspired by his words, I continued to write about him long after I received the A for my report. I soon ran across a copy of "I know why the caged bird sings," by Maya Angelou and at that tender age, I felt so inspired by reading of the parallels in our lives. I inhaled books after that. The words of volumes of books by Judy Bloom, Maya Angelou and yes, even V.C. Andrews lit a fire within that burns bright to this day. I had found my calling in the shaping of words and retelling stories.
I've been published in poetry collections, online as a guest and featured blogger as well as having served as Editor and writer for Reality TV for BellaOnline magazine.
Currently, I am dusting off and fine tuning a memoir that I began a decade ago. In addition, I am working on a book of poetry and essays about feminism and sexuality that I plan to self publish this summer. Never one to keep my nose to the grindstone for just one project, I am also juggling a novel and a few erotica short stories, as well as continuing to write poetry when the vibe strikes me.
2008 is my gold star year and I plan to punctuate it with completed works that will put my writing on the map. "History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it." Sir Winston Churchill
Some of my favorite authors to date are: Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Judy Bloom ( yes, I admit that openly with no shame. LOL!) Alice Walker, Zora Neale Hurston, Dorothy Parker, Augusten Burroughs, William Burroughs ( no relation), Chuck Klosterman, Langston Hughes, Alex Hailey, D.H. Lawrence and friends of mine that have found their voices in written word.
