Each time I write a play, essay, or book, my friends and family swear they are in it . . . don't they realize that a writer's material is in every rock, insect, and cloud in the sky? Yes, it's about you and you and you. Revel in it!

Background

I was born into the Southern tradition of storytelling, and refined my art by telling stories to children. I have been a freelance writer for 20 years for educational publishing and have published over 60 children's books in the educational markets. Writing for children and teachers has given me the time and space to do my creative work for adults. I've written three plays that have won awards, two essays that have aired on radio, and one novel. When I was living in Bolton, Massachusetts, I wrote for a local newspaper and created a character, Flossie Quattlebawm, who did outrageous things I could only dream about. She became the protagonist in my first novel. I now live in Maine and am working on a novel set there. I live with my three dogs close to the sea and spend a lot of time being in nature and loving it. It's a writer's life!
