I earned a Ph.D. in Religion-Social Ethics from the University of Southern California (2003), and a B.A. in Women's Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara (1993). I have lectured in Religious Studies at California State University Long Beach and Northridge, and also in English and Ethics at California State University Channel Islands. Also, as Visiting Scholar at UCLA, Dept. of History (2007-08), I studied women, crime, and punishment in Colonial America. My dissertation, "Unity and Diversity: Star Trek's Vision of Transcendence," examined religion and ethics in the Star Trek television series.
