My journey has truly been an adventure. I am first and foremost a mother, who like most mothers will do anything for the well being of thier child. I am blessed with two beautiful girls, Mareva who is 16 and Lauren who is 11. I work as a special education paraprofessional at Kincaid Elementary School in Marietta, Georgia. Although my post-secondary education and formal training is not in the field of special education, it is near and dear to my heart. Working with children who have special needs, and raising a daughter (Lauren) with cerebral palsy has become my passion. I sincerely believe that every child is unique in his or her own way, no matter their ability or disability.
I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama in a middle class family comprising of two sisters and one brother. My parents always instilled in my siblings and I, the value of self worth and love for the Lord. Through their constant teachings, care, love and affection, I believe that I have grown up to be a person of high morals and strong family beliefs. My "coming up", if you will, is who I am as a person. I possess integrity and am strong and loyal to the core.
I began to write my story over two years ago while going through a marital separation and dealing with the sudden illness of my father. Writing was comforting and provided me with peace in the middle of all the turmoil. It was an experience in self-examination for who I am, what I am , and my evolution into what I have become. It is also an expression of my deepest thoughts and fundamental beliefs. A testimony, if you will, of Gods love and a doctrine to guide and assist others crying out for help.
The road has been long and the journey tough, but I continue to travel and take it day by day.
