I have had a passion for art and writing since childhood. We were financially strained, and imagination purchased most of my toys. In first grade, once I learned how to interpret what I read, I went from the lowest reader to the highest in my class. In the fifth grade I wrote an essay that won a $100 savings bond. Writing has always been its own reward though. It was not until high school that I truly grasped poetry and symbolism. I will never forget my high school English teacher, Mr. Sanders, who opened those channels for me. He quite literally jumped up and down to make a good point, (and or wake the majority of the class). At any rate he got my full attention. He introduced me to "the Greats" and helped me find a favorite in Edgar Allan Poe. In college I joined the Forensic Team competing in Oral Interpretation of Literature. I won several awards for the interpretation of "The Bells" by none other than Poe. Later I discovered a poet by the name of Yeats, and to this day have been inspired by his work. "The Two Trees" is my lifetime favorite. I wrote things here and there, helped friends and family with essays over the years, but ultimately allowed life to put my passion for writing and English in the back seat for a very long time. I have found the time and long lost opportunity to sit behind the wheel again~ finding inspiration from everyone and everything I can learn from. Ultimately I am working toward publishing my work in books of my own and persuing my passion as a free-lance writer.
