Cedric Jones submitted his first poem to an address he found in the back of a tabloid when he was thirteen years old. A few weeks later he was published and seeing his poem in print brought him so much joy. That was then. Today, there's I Wear The Colour Green, his first collection of poems that span over twenty years.
Cedric L. Jones was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1973. At age seven, his family moved to Bennettsville, S.C. where he spent the remainder of his childhood. In high school, he was chosen to attend The Young Writer's Conference in Columbia, S.C. for a poem he'd written inspired by The Gulf War Crisis. Jones graduated with honors from Marlboro County High School in 1991. Like writing, performing attracted him at an early age. He joined the high school chorus and became involved with his high school and community theatres.
After high school, Jones attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, where he double majored in Theatre (Performance) and Mass Communication (Broadcast Journalism).
After graduating cum laude with a BA in 1995, he relocated to Atlanta, GA and continued to act and sing. Jones recently returned to New York, where he is active in the independent theatre scene and continues to write both plays and poetry.
Today, a video of his poem "History" can be found on www.youtube.com.
