My major influence for the love of writing is my Mom. She would stay up late at night writing me long letters. She taught me the joy of reading & writing. Those long letters carried us through my teens years. She was my best friend then and now.
My cousin Pauline and best friend then inspired me to read books. She was always sitting on the swing in her front yard under the locust tree. She was always reading books, writing letters or simple notes to friends. I have so many beautiful memories underneath that tree. Memories, I will forever cherish. My Dad wrote the above captioned poem in my eight grade yearbook. It has always been my number one favorite poem. I grew up in the country on a farm with three brothers and two sisters. We had a large supporting family all around us. We had no need for grocery stores selling meat, dairy and produce. Our family farm provided that. It was the late 60's and things were changing fast but, I worked my butt off...still. The 70's introduced me to Rock & Roll, first loves and girlfriends from the city. The 80's brought marraige and 3 boys. That didn't keep me from my Grandparents farm. The farm continued to be a big part of my life until my grandparents passed away. I try to keep my poems short and easy so, children may understand them. If, I teach one child the joy of poetry, then it was worth while.
I have included a few of my "Family's Works", also. I hope you enjoy it. Note: My music takes longer to load here than if you go to my site directly for viewing.
