I'm a writer, a feminist, a father, and a lovable raconteur. The first three, anyhow.

I'm a freelance writer and blogger from Minneapolis-St. Paul. Since 2002, I've maintained the Blog of the Moderate Left, and currently also blog for Alas, Minnesota Campaign Report, and Twin Cities Daily Planet. I've been reading since I was two, and at this point I'm not even sure where my influences come from -- they range from L'Engle and Dahl to Adams and Gaiman to Rowling to Sophocles to Amanda Marcotte. Really, every book and article I've ever read is a part of ever book and article I ever write.
I write because, like most writers, I have to. I don't have a choice. If I was stranded on a desert island with nobody to write for, I'd still write. I'm still awed that people find my work meaningful, still awed that anyone's interested in what I have to say. But even if they weren't, I'd still write.
