Smart, sassy, unconventional and blatantly honest, that is author-photographer Halli Casser-Jayne, and that best describes her work whether as a writer or photographer.

Background Information

Subscribing to the belief that life is to be gulped, not sipped, Halli Casser-Jayne has spent a lifetime fchasing the interesting, embarking on adventure. A foreign correspondent in the 1980's, Ms. Casser-Jayne reported from war-torn El Salvador and guerrilla-infested Guatemala.

She wrote and produced the six-hour rockumentary on the seminal 60's band the DOORS. She collaborated with Door's drummer, John Densmore on his now celebrated biography, Riders on the Storm.

Her current book, Still Life, images of Antietam, features the first serious collection of photographs recorded of Antietam Battlefield since Alexander Gardner's 1866 work, Sketchbook of the Civil War. The 152-page volume is a deeply emotional look at the single bloodiest day in American history.

Eminent historian, Dr. Joseph L. Harsh says the book "is for those who reach out to feel the past." Antietam National Battlefield Superintendent, John Howard, who wrote the introduction to the book, calls the work "a refreshing viewpoint."  Still Life, images of Antietam, which sells for $32.95, is available at leading bookstores throughout the country and online.

Ms. Casser-Jayne will be releasing her new book, OKUSOBOKA, A Journey Through Uganda with a forewod by His Majesty Rukirabasaija King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I in spring 2009. (www.hallicasser-jayne.com)

Never shy about expressing her thoughts, Ms. Casser-Jayne shares her opinions and commentary Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on her blog, The CJ Political report.

Additional Information

For_Immediate_Release: POLITICAL WRITER HALLI CASSER-JAYNE PENS POLITICAL THRILLER United States of America -- (New York, New York--August 28, 2008) Smart, sassy, unconventional and blatantly honest, that is author-photographer Halli Casser-Jayne, and that best describes her work whether as a writer or photographer. Next week Ms. Casser-Jayne will release her novel, MAMBO, A Conversation with the Gods as a web-exclusive, an eBook available through amazon.com, eBobbypinbooks.com, thecjpoliticalreport.com and her own website, Hallicasser-jayne.com. MAMBO, A Conversation with the Gods takes place in The Republic, a Central American land of stark contrasts, where black is black and white is white; where love or hate is the only option, where no middle ground exists. This is the world reporter Sydney Gordon finds herself in -- Sydney bright, beautiful, impulsive and determined. Sydney who like the country she is assigned to cover understands little of compromise and is tortured by the muted shades of life. Enter Sydney’s world, a world where a civil war pits father against son and brother against brother in the fight for human dignity; a world that bursts with the fierce passions of humanity. Join Sydney in her race against the brutal government of the Republic in her quest to find Jorge Petro-Brain one of the many disappeared - los desconocidos - a young man who may hold the answer to who is responsible for the brutal murder of an American nun. Jorge’s life has touched many, and the “many” will change Sydney’s life forever. One of the many is Adam Scott, the television producer with whom Sydney shares her journey. Adam is handsome, glib but wracked with demons. Adam and Sydney will compete for the same prize, Jorge’s story, using each other in a dance that nearly destroys them both even as they discover their love for one another in the midst of a country lost in the maelstrom of madness. Halli Casser-Jayne knows something about war. A foreign correspondent in the 1980’s, Casser-Jayne has spent the last few years exploring the American Civil War. Her book, STILL LIFE, images of Antietam is the first serious book of photographs of Antietam Battlefield named for the battle in which 23,000 men were killed, maimed or disappeared in a matter of hours in what remains to date the bloodiest single day in American history. The book has been hailed by critics. Civil War historian Dr. Joseph Harsh calls Ms. Casser-Jayne’s photographs “evocative.” Maryland Magazine says "As a photographer, H. Casser-Jayne's impact reaches far beyond the lens; it touches the soul.” STILL LIFE, images of Antietam is available at Borders Books nationwide and through amazon.com. Her next book of images will be published in the late fall. OKUSOBOKA, a Journey through Uganda is a haunting portrayal of life in the country Winston Churchill called The Pearl of Africa. Equally haunting and powerful, violent, and most passionate is Mambo! A Conversation with the Gods. You can read more about Ms. Casser-Jayne as well as her provocative opinions at The CJ Political Report, where she posts her blog Monday, Wednesday and Friday at high noon. Mambo! A Conversation with the Gods sells for $9.99 and is available in multiple formats. ## Contact: Halli Casser-Jayne Email: Halli@hcjstudios.com
