Old and crusty with a deep love of cynicism and vodka. A late starter, maybe, but a long, drawn-out finish seems likely.

Born into a working class family in 1940 in NZ, I was an only child. As a fat kid, I spent much of my time alone and became an almost predatory reader. Ultimately, in my dotage, and after almost 30 years drifting about in Australia and PNG, I returned to NZ and began to write.
My major influence has been personal experience, but characters like Lewis Carroll, Spike Milligan, Banjo Patterson and Omar Khayyam must share some of the blame. Charles Bukowski is now keeping me in touch with unreality.
I write mainly poetry, but have ventured into horror, sci fi and other speculative genres in recent times.

I have had two books of poetry published thus far:

Rat atouille for the rindless: a series of short poems about my pet rat Brian, illustrated by Aussie cartooning genius, Dave Freeman. ISBN: 978-0-473-12544-8
Four other books are in the wings awaiting their call, and several joint efforts are in progress. I have had innumerable poems and short stories published in print and electronic magazines and anthologies in various genre.
