I was born and raised in Tennessee, spending the first half of my life in the east part of the state and the second half in the middle part of the state. I currently live in the Nashville area where I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and work as an RN at the local children's hospital. I could not ask for a more rewarding job.
I am the oldest of four children, and I do mean the oldest. I do not have children of my own, but I have a six year old brother and twin three year old brothers. I spent my high school and college years babysitting the neighborhood children. Spending time with all the children in my life has definately been the best inspiration for writing. I love to write and have been doing so since I was seven years old. I always thought young adult novel was my calling, but I am suprised that my new passion has become children's picture books.
My favorite authors include Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte, J.K.Rowling, Janette Oaks, and J.R.R. Tolkien. Pride and Prejudice is my alltime favorite. I love the classics even though my own personal writing style is nothing like the authors that I admire. Children's Favorites include Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst, And To Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street by Dr. Seuss, Llama Llama Mad at Mama by Anna Dewdney, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and of course Alices Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
Other hobbies and favorites, besides reading and writing, include choclate, cake, home decorating, watching movies, spending time with friends and family, amusement parks, and baking. I also love to sing broadway tunes, but only do so in the privacy of my own home because my singing voice is something that no one should be subjected to.
