Julie Hyzy (Julie Garbarczyk)has been writing stories from the time she was old enough to put a string of words together. But it's only been the past few years that she's been able to make writing a priority. She loves to read, of course, and a child she was crazy about Nancy Drew mystery stories. As she grew, and her reading horizons expanded, she discovered the beauty of Ray Bradbury's prose. His works inspired her to try science fiction, and last year, her short story, "Efflorescence," won a spot in the fifth annual Star Trek, Strange New Worlds Anthology, published by Pocket Books. While she finds sci-fi a welcome and familiar place for writing, she's returned to her early mystery story roots, and has come to enjoy the writings of authors such as Sue Grafton, John D. MacDonald, and Kris Nelscott. Julie’s now writing her own mysteries as well.

She currently has one novel being considered for publication, and is working on a series of novels featuring a Chicago based news reporter named Alex St. James.
