I have always loved reading and getting completely absorbed and lost in a book. Life always seemed interesting and exciting in the story, and I felt part of the story as if I was living it, every time I read a book. I guess reading was a way to escape my life. At school, I was always good at writing essays, but never believed in myself. For years I wanted to write, but always doubted if I was good enough. Then I got breast cancer and re-thought my life. After a nightmarish encounter with a con-artist in New Zealand, I decided to turn my life around and break the pattern of bad relationships. It was this time that I wrote Fear, Phobias and Frozen Feet - a self-help book for people caught up in the relationship triangle, with handy tips on how to start on a new life.
I have never set out to have an interesting and slightly out of the ordinary life. But, somehow that's been my lot in life. To have adventures. So I guess it was easy to find material to get the old imagination kick-started. Stop the World I need to pee, is my first novel in a series about Fenella Fisher. A very unusual heroine. I'm currently working on my next novel, Toxic Weeds.
I guess many authors and books have influenced me over the years as I am quite a prolific reader. Tom Sharpe with his Riotous Assembly and Wilt books, have really inspired me. I just love his sense of humour. I also liuke crime novels, a good thriller and reality fiction.
