Background ~
I am a CPA who has trained as an auditor and tax advisor.
I have spent 20+ years in public accounting and about the same amount of time serving on non profit and corporate boards.
I initially entered the accounting profession because I enjoyed working with diverse professional clients from plumbers to medical doctors to athletes, etc...
I have NEVER been bored at any point in my career.
What inpires me to write is the ability to reach a broad audience and save them the cost of an expensive education (i.e. making bad business decisions).
For most challenges and tips to success I have found many answers (or at least a place to start) by picking up a book.
In all of my books and columns I try to implement practical tips that I have learned through some of the successes and challenges of clients I consult.
It is so rewarding to receive a thank you note from someone thousands of miles away who read one of my columns, blogs or books that provided an answer he/she was searching for.
I enjoy helping others and sometimes wonder if I should not have considered the medical profession.
I guess in some small way I am a business doctor that helps solve some of the mysteries and develops cures for small businesses, boards and professionals.
