Rev. McCleery holds a M. Div. and a Th. M. in Pastoral Psychology from Duke Divinity School as well as an MBA from Syracuse University. His Clinical Pastoral Education training comprises an Intern Year at Duke Medical Center and a Resident Year at North Carolina Medical Center. During his residency year, Rev. McCleery’s clinical assignment was a nursing home. He followed that with a stint as project coordinator Ministries with and for the aging, a program of the North Carolina Council of Churches.
Since 2004 , Rev. McCleery has served on a staff of chaplains with Halifax Health, Hospice of Volusia Flagler. Of Sorrow and Laughter is Rev. McCleery’s first book which his firm Carebourne Enterprises is publishing. This book provides inspiration through verse and illustration as it charts the caregivers journey. A second work, “ Living Words for Each Day- A Caregivers Journal” is nearing completion. In that book the author encourages caregivers to explore their own strengths and spiritual insights as they meet the challenges of care giving one day at a time.
Rev. McCleery and his wife Carole have one daughter and two delightful granddaughters who reside with their son in law in Silver Spring, Md. The McCleerys make their home Palm Coast, Florida , enjoying semi retirement in an area known as “The Hammock” which lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intra Coastal Waterway. There they like to kayak, fish, garden and take beach walks, except in hurricane season!
