Background? I speak Russian, Estonian and still learn English! As a film critic I supported Baltic Documentary. The best films were banned by Moscow controlling institutions. They needed protection. We, the powerless critics, did what we could. It was all terrible; I prefer not to look back. America turned to be different from what I expected it to be. Incredible quality, professionalism in absolutely everything one stumbles upon, incredible quality of films, camerawork, actor's acting skills, and catastrophic loss of humanness. "I love you!" --”I love you too!" -- Love is reduced to mundane exchange of words that mean very little! However, when America started to crumble under the rule of Bush administration, I discovered that I love this country and said, "I already buried one empire, my share has been done! it would be too much for me to see another going down the drain!"  

My greatest achievement is attempting to write in English. Nothing else matters...

Vladimir Vysotsky, a Russian poet and actor speaks from the other side. Vysotsky was a Russian "large than life" celebrity, bard, perforemr of his forbidden songs that swept the nation in form of - samizdat -- illegal recordings. He was immensly popular despite hte fact that during his short life no one poem was published, no one song was aired, and not a single footage of film was shown on TV. He was given some acting roles in Soviet films.
