C. Patrick Durkin holds a BA in English Literature from Marywood University and was recipient of the institution's J. Harold Brislin award for Excellence in Creative Writing, Spring 2001. He pursued graduate studies at Binghamton University, studying poetry with writers such as Maria Maziotti Gillan, Greg Razran, J.E. Wei, and Tony Medina. He also studied with noted critic on Epic Poetry and Oral Tradition, Isidore Okpewho.
