This is the title poem to my second novel: Fast Lane (The Changes Relationships Go Through) |
|
Approaching life as if there is no tomorrow.
Living for today and feeling no sorrow.
Holding on to memories that are in the past.
Driving in the fast lane of life, moving too fast.
Reaching out for a comforting hand.
Finding out that today I must become a man.
Looking at all the things that we went through.
Knowing in my heart that no one will ever replace you.
Approaching tomorrow as if I was glad it came.
Remembering my life will never be the same.
Trying to hold onto to a love that did not last.
Driving in the fast lane of life, moving too fast.
Wishing I had never gotten into the game.
Holding my head down as the Judge called my name.
Looking at how our lives have changed.
Knowing it’s too late for things to be re-arranged.
Reaching out for something that isn’t there.
Longing for someone to show they care.
Approaching my second chance with a changed heart.
Realizing that God has given me a new start.
Driving in the fast lane of life, moving too fast.
Moving over to the right to let the faster traffic pass.
