Leaving your body somewhere else
you lay beside me
hoping I'll notice
your hands moved my pillow
closer
to the breast I know well as my own
vacant
until memory starts a murmur
blood stopping for a brief moment
long enough to remind me
of life surging
between restless sighs.
I can smell the heat of brokenness
waiting
for my hands to find you
while I sleep.

Very beautiful, perfect from the first line to the last. An excellent portrait of love, expressed in a moment.

as I read I felt a kind of celebration of inspiration here, acknowledging the (often) humdrum nature of living for what it is, and appreciating, and clinging to, the moments that bless us despite our inability to apprehend them.
Peace to you dear friend ...
