Trust
toddling fearlessly
to outstretched arms
caressed by love
laced with discipline
to flourish
in the garden of life

Trust
dispensing ability
to move forward
on untested
obstacles
knowing setbacks
are cultivation.

Trust
propelling life
regenerating
humanity
initiating confidence
with challenging duality
to believe in others
and yourself.


Space Duel

Followed close and all alone
With slowing power I make a run
To ride the Zodiacal cone
That pulls me toward the burning sun.

I place my knees upon the floor
And brace my arms to push the bar
That opens up the fueling door
To cosmic winds around the star.

I shift the craft to overdrive
When tanks are full of cosmic dust
It breaks the halo with a dive
From parabolic mach five thrust.

Looking back I see a flare
Knowing I have won the duel
My pursuer took the dare
And followed me with liquid fuel.


A Warrior Word

Hope
Breaks chains
Coiled around
The psyche and
Locked with
Keys of
Turmoil
That no longer fit.

Steel strength
This hope
Ripping away
Disparate links
Killing demons
Of depression and
Installing trust
Into liberated minds.


Angel Eyes

She came to visit in the fall,
A little child so sweet and small.
She whispered softly, “I love you.”
Grandma said, “I love you too!”

It was a calm and balmy day,
When grandma took her out to play.
The leaves were raked into a pile,
And Maya’s antics made her smile.

Grandma held her on her lap,
And put her down to take a nap.
She baked some cookies and some pies
And thought of Maya’s angel eyes.

Soft and quite Maya crept.
It was late and grandma slept.
She raised a knife about the bed
And stabbed her grandma in the head.

Grandma woke with mournful cries
And looked into those angel eyes.
A scream pealed forth amidst the pain
As Maya plunged the knife again.
