For Mary Ellen Devin

She never looked farther Than her own backyard She stayed on the farm, Never imagining what It might be like To fly beyond the rainbow, Never imagining what might be Outside her sheltered world. Then one day She was whisked away To the big city Every sight, every sound, Color and livelihood Brought her awe and wonder Everything sparked her curiosity And made her say "Wow!" Her childlike enthusiasm amuses me Since I'm a little jaded, An experienced world traveler So I do not appreciate or pay attention to New sights, sounds, Smells, touches and movements Yet, I wish I could see or have the Curiosity, awe and enthusiasm Of a child.
