Blind

If you cannot be who you are, then better not to be.

Do not try and make me that of which I am not.

I can no more conform to your standards than can the lowly dandelion become a rose.

Not that I am comparing myself in that way.

But only that I am what I am as are all the other creatures upon this earth.

You have taken the blood and drained it dry.

And if I am to make new and continue, I must learn how to fly.

No one can, no one must, clip my wings or even try.

For I am me, and me is sacred.

Blessed by all that gives the breath of life.

To change me is to kill me.

You say you want all the things I am not.

Then, that is not me!

Put all those things in my body and mind, then you have a new person.

My heart hath died.

Do not try to change me.

For what I am is best.

And if you cannot see that, then you are blind to the rest.
