The little kitten

On the morning that I found you

I threw caution to the wind

Landing safely on my feet

Like a Cheshire cat I grinned

Never thinking for a second

There were rules for this love too

I just picked you up into my arms

And told you I love you

Uncertainty never entered

This scatty head of mine

I just thought it would be alright

That everything was fine

I never look ahead

Like I should do I suppose

What are the reasons for my thoughts?

 Heaven only knows

There was a great big storm

That brought you close to me

In the area that I found you

There was a fallen tree

In a single movement of the hand

I hand you back to them

With a teardrop looming in my eye

I will never condemn

I watch your little shape

And your furry little nose

I will love you always

From your tail down to your toes

I miss you mostly at night

Just before I go to bed

Next time now little kitten

Be careful where you tread.

it was a little kitty I found after a storm, The kitten was six-eight weeks old, such a little sweety, I nursed her for two weeks, she seemed to be getting better, but unfortunately didn't make it.

Beautiful picture, Kate. And I like Karla assume the little kitty didn't make it. Extremely sad.

Awww...so sad that you had to give her back. The photo is absolutely gorgeous and so is your poem.
