In Memoriam
by Penni Lynn Smith (Weston)

Thursday, February 19, 2009
Rated "G" by the Author.

On February 28th, 2009, it will be one year since my mother passed away. I sat down yesterday and wrote this out, wishing I could print it in the newspaper, unable to do so right now.

In Memoriam

Edna Loette "Eydie" Smith

February 3, 1923-February 28, 2008

Always our Mother

That we will forever hold dear.

You've now been in heaven

For one short year.

We miss you so much

Tears have not dried yet

We note your absence from sunrise

To glowing sunset.

We're happy you're whole

And reunited with those you so missed

Grandmother, Grandfather,

There is a long list.

We hope the reunion

Is ongoing each day

That makes it a little easier

For your six children to say:

We're happy you're at peace

And we still feel your Mother's love,

We know and count on your watching over us daily

From your new home above.

Love to you,

Miss you so,

From our hearts to your heart

Feel our love flow.

Hi Penni, this is a very heartfelt and lovely tribute.I have been reading tons and tons of poetry throughout the years, but I have to say that this poem made me have tears coming down my eyes literally.I am sure she was an amazing mother to you.By the picture,I can tell she was a very sweet person. When you said tears have not dried yet, they don't have to be dried. They will always be wet with grief and with great memories that will last a lifetime.Thank you for sharing this poem.God bless you and my heart goes out to you and your family.Take care of yourself
