Beautiful Nanna on noticing that tall Mr Lincoln has bloomed again!! Xox

‘I’m growing up as tall as I can’
Red rose called to sky, while glancing at the land

‘The sun inches me ever further
My roots secure me down
As I reach higher
I’m embe dded firmly in the ground’

‘I may appear fragile to more than a few
Although most people know what my thorns can do
I sway with the breezes, I withstand the heat’
A flower is so powerful, so much more than a treat

Next time you see a tall rose flourishing away
Stop to imagine what it might have to say
The impressions, delights, the imaginings may do
Invoke the unique part that’s only in you

Roses, indeed are hardy and beautiful at the same time. I recall them growing wild in the ditches and fence rows along the West Virginia highway leading to my home. The Texas Department of Transportation has planted roses along the freeways in Houston. Some of them are huge bushes over 10 feet tall filled with hundreds of roses long stretches of road that before would barely grow grass with all the filth, oil, and exhaust in the gravelly soil.

Nanna's picture is beautiful. The poem is meaningful, and I can't help think of it as a comparison to her, appearing fragile, but having experienced the best and worst life dealt to her, and still standing tall. It's a very thought-provoking poem.
