Becoming Night by Val A Magnuson Tuesday, August 13, 2002 Share Print Save Become a Fan Inch by inch, across from afternoon The indigo empire of evening unfurled- Like a windblown peony, the moon reached for her vase This insignificant lake Along the watchtower shadows All around the sky freely the infinite stars moored upon the noble diadem- Closer, fireflies And in the distant woods, called the curious owls- And I, a humble page armed the splendor of the night- Val Magnuson c2002
