My Twilight Years

We as teenagers think we have so much time to do the things we want and need to do. But time waits for no one. This is what my poem is about.
****************************************

My Twilight Years

As I stand here in my twilight years
I look back at the years behind me now
Then I wonder where all the time has gone
What was I thinking?

Look at all the time that I have wasted
thinking that I had all the time in the world

Now the world is closing up on me
Leaving me yearning for more

I wish I could have seen my future then
because now my future lives behind me
with no real time for change

As I stand here in my twilight years
I now know what I needed to know then
as the world opens up life to us
these were the years for us learn

So the future we see to be so far
is really not so far at all
So make every moment in life
as if you’re living your twilight years
