Do You Know What It Is Like?

My poetry is about anyone who has gone through so many trials and tribulations. Losing a portion of themselves along the way and now they are wondering how much farther can they go with out breaking into pieces. |

Do you know what it is like
to wear a smile
when you are choking inside
Do you know what it is like
to look through your tears
trying to find comfort
in spite of your fears
Do you know what it is like
when your heart breaks
and you're left wondering
how much more can you take
Do you know what it is like
to hunger for the years of yesterday
when your heart was light
and your soul ran free
I know what it is like
because those feelings
belongs to me

| Powerful write, Janie. Yes I do believe many poetic souls know what that is like for that is the fuel that inspires many great pieces of work and the depth of emotion and compassion that they express. Superb work. |
