Persistence: The Gift of Seasons

A lesson to my child: Observe and follow the example of the seasons that persistence offers continuous renewal.

Look out there, my child,
What do you see?
Warm sandy beaches,
Smoke-filled yards,
Tired parents basking in the sun,
And sweet-smelling lilacs in bloom.

Look out there, my child,
What do you see?
Leaves of brown, orange, and red,
Geese flying south
In a cloudy sky,
And plump mums and asters in bloom.

Look out there, my child,
What do you see?
Frost on the window,
Icycles dangling from the eaves,
Fields of wind-driven snow,
And ice where the river once flowed.

Look out there, my child,
What do you see?
Grass turning green,
Buds on the trees, and robins nesting there,
The bubbly river running free,
And daffodils and tulips abound.

And what can you learn from this, my child?

Expertly crafted piece of brilliant writing, consistency in theme, beautifully rendered imagery, and an easily accessible style. The questions appealed to me as a reader and the imagery was evocative, enlivening the imagination. The poem ends on a note of hope and inspiration. Wonderful writing.

You are a refreshing addition to authors den. I have enjoyed all your poetry, and find it superior to most of what I read here on ad. I enjoy your contemplative nature, your rhythmic interludes, and the thematic interlocking of phrases. Congratulations. W will continue to look further for your work...... and, by the way, I keep wondering if you may be the one "John Prophet" who was once known on KUHF here in Houston. Couldn't be.....

Excellent and fantastic imagery. If we allow ourselves, we do learn so much from the changing seasons. As you say, the persistence to keep moving forward, despite any and all adversity. Visit me sometime.

Love in Christ~~
