In Memory of Our Beloved Cat Casper

OUR CAT CASPER

January 22, 2009

Our beloved boy cat Casper died today.

It was very hard to see him pass away.

It was not his choice but ours for him to go today.

We couldn’t stand to see him suffer anymore this way.

He has been sick for so long.

In the past month many of his body parts went very wrong.

It was so hard to see him this way,

We made the hard choice to send him away.

He was suffering oh so much,

That we decided to let him go to heaven

as we petted him with our loving touch.

He put up a fight and cried out Mom

when the vet gave him the shot.

I had a feeling he would do that you see,

and it broke my heart to hear him call for help from me.

He had always yelled Mom when he needed me.

I held him and told him it was okay,

but it was so painful for me, saying those words I had to say.

I cried sad tears as I said goodbye.

The vision I had to see stays in my minds eye.

He is the only one of our pets who fought not to go.

That scene will always touch my soul.

I knew we couldn’t let him go on that way,

so we had to let him go today.

He was so cute when he was well,

and he was so sweet it made my heart swell.

With the love that he brought to us,

he was never a cat that made any fuss.

He was a good cat brother to his sister Sunshine,

He watched after her and protected her so fine.

We miss him so very much

but already we see his gray shadow

and feel his soft touch.

That lets us know he is now healthy, happy, and free

with our other spirit pets that he can now see.

So sad the loss of a beloved pet! Your poem is heartwarming and tragic. I feel the love for Casper in every single word. Good job Judith!

So very sorry to hear of your loss, Judith. Casper sounds like a wonderful feline friend. I lost my dearest cat, Buddy, two years ago now, and he was by my side for 20 years. But like you, I can still see his shadow in my home, and I swear I can still hear his purrs.

I'm sorry for your loss. Kitties have a way of purring their way into our hearts. :(

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

Looks like Maine Coon, a big, furry baby.

I am sorry for your loss; Casper was a beautiful kitty! Was he Maine Coon? He looked like one; he reminds me of a lot of my male Maine Coon, "Ouizer"! You are in my prayers!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( >Tears! <

Judith,

The tears are rolling down my cheeks right now, because it was only four short months, the identical thing happened to my beloved cat. He was such a good brother too. Nothing is worse than having to put an animal down, but even worse to see them suffer. Heartbreaking write.
