Daydreams

I see you here in my daydreams
Reality intrudes, and you
Go back into my mind to await
My return to you.

Your touch sends shivers
Down my spine
This is the moment we've been waiting for
I feel safe in your embrace
And I don't want to ever let you go.

But go, you must
For now is not the time
For us to be together
The way we both would want
Real life comes first
And I will not stand in the way of it.

Until the next time, my friend.
Please take care;
And remember how it feels
To hold my hand.

Nightmares

Startled out of a sound sleep
The manifestation of my fears
Awaken me in the dead of night
I blindly reach over to touch you
For reassurance
Then remember you are not there.

I hear your voice saying,
"Tell me all about it."
As I start to speak
Of horrors only I know
I feel a calm descend upon me.

Oh, where are you when I need your touch
To calm me after my nightmares?
I think of how you'd comfort me if
You were here.
Yet, you are far away from me this night
But close enough to know you care.
