The Gathering

I sometimes hear your voice

proclaiming those three little

words, and often wonder if

they were imagined, but

there were witnesses, you know.

Blame, guilt, lies, half truths,

the dreaded sins of omission -

sometimes I think they are one

and the same.

And so it goes…there was no

guarantee… only hope…

and what now remains…

a gathering of shattered promises.

Interesting how a lack of truth, not just outright lies, can go so far to destroy human relationship. Your writing not only is well-done--it shows a building toward mental and spiritual health..........Jerry

Sometimes the truth flows along that journey we wish for, it is when we come face to face with the half truth that we realize it was only

...a promise waiting to be broken

nice work Dawn...

Promises. They run through our veins - often the lifeblood of hope and dreams. Strength comes through sustaining and, perhaps, redirecting the hope and dreams even after the promises have dissolved. When the seratonin subsides, truth rises up.

I can recognize those moments when we look at all the lies and omissions, broken promises... and there isn't much to say or do. We can feel their heavy presence until we decide to do something about it.

promises are always shallow unless there's some meaningful substance behind them ... they gather until there is nothing left ...

People who choose to live their lives by being negative, shall find that in the end it was a waste of good energy. Positivity is always the way to go with any situation and that means speaking your truth.
Lovely poetry, my sweet Bella. Have a safe journey and return to us safe and happy.
Peace, love, and light,

A sadness to this, yet always with a resolve to move on... it seems to be a common theme/thread in your poetry... that resoluteness, not sorrow for what was and is no longer, but rather an acceptance and gentle hope for better things to come...

Sometimes, not telling the truth is not the same like telling a lie, it is an omission?
Sometimes, not telling a lie is not the same like telling the truth, it is that an omission too?
And then, we have a bouquet of broken promises giving the stench of guile.

There is some kind of validation seeing this in print.
