Little Jake you whisper gently
Words that ache inside
Sat atop a steep hillside
Tasting the tears you cried

Try to find some sense in this
A reason that this may be so
Finding only dead remnants
Of a boy you used to know

No purpose in this life removed
Snatched before your eyes
Adrift on your own island
Weakly murmur your last goodbyes

No words can comfort you now
Their efforts are in vain
But you know deep down
That your loss is heavens gain

- Upon seeing an announcement in the 'In Memoriam' section of my local newspaper I was sufficiently moved to write something that doesn't really seem like the sort of thing I would. I mean, I don't even believe in Heaven...

If my memory serves me well the young boy in question was killed by a hit-and-run driver whilst playing not far from where I live several years ago.
