With the chaos of summer comes moments found like a jewel.

Balance to Commune
Today I want to remember
just like a day of importance where nothing out of the ordinary happens
yet the feeling of peace and balance is marked
these days don't come very often
I usually find them when pen is in hand
today there were no implements other than my mind
and good friends to converse with
the kids coming home
dinner to be made
cleaning to be contemplated
My mind has been battering me with memories that were hidden
17 year or more
distance from the trauma and pain of phantom events
dulled terror and frustration
I center my mind
calming my instinctual body reflexes
I touch the table to steady my perception to the here and now
No one can delve into my mind raping my memories to make a horror story of note
I must take strength for myself
for I must keep quiet of these events
Fear
that I would be validated for being a survivor and put on a hero's pedestal
does not make up for the fact that then once again I would be a target
This does not make me a mouse hiding in the shadows
it makes me a woman with knowledge of the importance of life due to becoming a mother
daughter, friend
Existence has worth

Hi Amy, the last line wraps around the years and events... no it does not make you a mouse, it makes you a woman of strength, a woman with a history, and from the author of "Something More", that's what makes you a woman. Thank you for sharing this existence...

| BRAVO!! You have found peace out of a torment that could have kept you down. It is not easy, but when it happens, it seems almost surreal. (for me anyway) Thank you for sharing, Be Well Always, Carin' |
