This has a three line stanzas. The first and third lines have ten syllables. The middle has two syllables. The message, we came into this world with only a soul, and we leave the same way.

Have you wanted to hold on to something?
I have.
I wanted to hang on tightly with a string.

Have you wanted to keep a special toy?

I have.

I asked where it was, but others act coy.

Have you watched a friend you love walk away?

I have.

I wanted them to desire to stay.

Have you had any pets that you treasured?

I have.

I would pray their lives would not be measured.

Have you wanted someone not to grow old?

I have.

I have watched them fade and then, become cold.

Have felt strong with many abilities?

I have.

I have declined with disabilities.

Have you learned that this is the way of life?

I have.

I’ve lived in this life with much pain and strife.

Have you heard your soul is all you can keep?

I have.

Forever jubilantly or to weep
