Soul to Soul: An Ode to My Lady

This is a special tribute a Sophisticated Lady

From my soul to yours there’s so much we can say, so much to share and so much in common. We are kindred souls, young at heart despite time and change. There are people that won’t understand you as you dance like David and furl your liturgical flags with unmitigating fervor. They castigate you and talk behind your back. But if only they knew what I know about you! We endeavor to be one with clear minds in our perch on catbird seats with all-seeing eyes. We measure our surroundings and are familiar with that which we’ve embraced. We’re not worried by change, but are challenged by it. We are charged with energy together, but it’s you individually that sets the standards for all things bold and beautiful in our relationship. We enjoy our sunrises where Ole Sol peeks his head above the horizon signaling dawn’s early light...and if one looks closer, there we are  - together with an open Bible praising His Holy name.

Sunsets are ours too, for with it we bid farewell to yet another day that God has allowed us to be as one, unified and ready for a rested soul. My dear love, I’ve always marveled at how you treat surprises as they come in variable forms to you, as in the ability to not sweat the small stuff where nonchalance is par for your course. I remember you telling me how you appreciate my respect for feelings, and how the senses has a way of opening new life to my being. You are right, Honey...I always want to feel you when I need reassuring that you are there. It deepens our understanding of the physical. You said that you want life to last so you can explore all that God said He had for you and your family, only if we made our election and calling surest praising Him. Lo, I’m with you every step of the way in this world, for our faith is our new lease on life in a familial way.

From your soul to mine, our life seems to have gotten simpler, with a better understanding of our existence and what it means to the younger ones. We live, love and learn by example. I’m glad you share my affinity for the children. By my side you are more patient, your giving nature comes from the heart, and you’ve given them reason to believe that you are for them. I like how we can agree to disagree, and that we argue less as you accept my occasional love pats! When I squeeze you it’s affection that flows within me. Agape love has become the most valued concept in our universe because the final countdown will depend on what is in our hearts and not what’s in our heads. Thoughts of dying do not fill you with dread, as you understand death is a part of life, a homecoming even, as life is a process of becoming. As such, we both are translucent in our approach to life and death.

From my soul to yours you’d realize that this place we reside in is only temporary, and that our eventual home is stellar and worlds apart from where we are now. Like me, you don’t mind going back in time, being regressive without hampering progress. We connect to different periods by injecting ourselves fully there, and not allowing it to affect where we truly need to go. You have a heartfelt affinity for history, allowing the past to generate our future. Thus, the connections to various periods throughout time are undeniable. Being soul to soul is loving you more akin to being on the same wave length creating a natural bond. We tend to dismiss the hue and cry of things we can’t control while allowing tone and tenor and other idiosyncracies forever color our canvas solidifying our commitment. All that we do, all that we aspire to be, and all that we NEED to be, we do this in remembrance of Him. This ode is to you my lady...read it and know just how much I care. We are one. We paint by the numbers and connect amiably soul to soul, for we are the wonder twins!
