“Hey Momma, is Daddy coming over today?”
“I don’t know Sam. What did he say?
Did you call him before he left for work?
He’d gone? I’m sorry you got your feelings hurt.”

“Hey Daddy, can you pick me up from school?”
“No Sam. I’m afraid that is against the rules.
Your mom said you got in trouble again today.
Slammed your desk down. Whatchya got to say?”

“And in your pants pocket she found some ugly notes.
She said that you swore that none of them you wrote.
I hear that you don’t pay attention to what is being said.
And that when it’s night- night time, you won’t go to bed.”

“You’ve gotta try to do better. It’s for your own good.
You know Daddy loves you and I’d be there if I could.
I’m sorry your real daddy can’t help but he’ll be in prison for years.
Aww, come here my monkey boy. I’ll kiss away your tears.”

“You need to listen to Momma. She’s doing the best hat she can.
Yes, it’ll tear my heart out when she finds another man.
Daddys gotta go now. I’ve gotta try to get a life.
Tears stream down my face…as I turn out his light.

Goodnight my Little Monkey Boy.

I was a total flippin wreck 1/2 way thru this!
