life is hard enough at two without the drama...

little boy with flaxen hair
pure eyes of chocolate brown
a combination oh so rare
why has life let you down?

my message is loud and clear
you've captivated my heart
I'll always love you, my dear
devotion to you will not depart

mom and dad couldn't work it out
you were stuck in the middle
unknowing what the fight was about
you couldn't understand being so little

place your small hand in mine
we'll take long walks beside the sea
making the most of our special time
a sad little boy, and... me

Yes, how right you are. Our eyes say a lot of things and this poem about the boy's sad eyes is very simple but heartwarming. I love the sincerity and care you managed to put into words.

A compelling account well shared via your verses. It reminds me a little of a story I wrote and posted here at AD after I had a dream. It is entitled, "Daddy's Girl." Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes,
