To the memorry of the Oklahoma Tragedy and all those who died |

OKLAHOMA CITY: APRIL 19, 1995
Our illusions were shattered in Oklahoma City,
So too were the theories of our universal themes.
The pain of intolerance,
The subtleties of class distinctions raised their head,
In our ill fated quest for perfection
In this less perfect world.
Even God is surprised sometimes
At what his best creation can do.
And we all felt helpless,
We only knew how helpless we were,
Not being able to change anything.
Does God make the rules as we go on?
We cry, we fret, we need answers
We need someone to blame
But all is left is you, forgive me
I thought we loved you.
And some looked at each other
And the body count mounted
Up in Oklahoma City.
Why, Oklahoma City?
How else can God be God, we asked?
Exit the children, center stage
In the end faith survived,
And through faith
We go to know each other in Oklahoma City
Just as it should be.
Exit the children, center stage
With the lights still burning
We'll never be the same.
Now we have to learn to live with ourselves
Just as we are.
