A 1000 hit poem
"My wish" poem was a climber from the start. But I've watched other poems start fast and then stall out. So I've been both surprised and pleased to watch "My wish" keep climbing till it passes 1,000 hits today, October 14, 2005. My first 1,000 hit poem. (1004 7:13 EDT USA)
When I started paying attention to my poetry my initial approach was to learn more about craft. Not wasted time. But I also started looking at poetry as a market, and what I found was that there are two broad catagories, which I called the English Dept and the Street Corner. I picked the Street Corner.
The second finding was that I could speak my mind with poetry much easier than I could using prose. Personally, poetry has been a big help to me to sort out some of the tangle of my mind. I said it and I felt better afterwards.
"My wish" is exactly that kind of a poem.

My wish by Henry Burt Stevens 07/10/2005
my wish: to only build sandcastles in readers' minds, maybe their hearts
my poetry is free, only air mixed with vibrations wafting the ears
playing briefly with their minds and looking for a smile, a nod, perhaps a wink
other poets can have the contests heaping glory and riches on the winners
the fine literary publications prestigious reading exposure writers' retreats and summer camps
leave me the internet the new Google Video, unlimited poem sharing and chaos. .........................................................................................
My video, Top 13Video, is now posted on Google Video. Go to http://video.google.com enter Henry Burt Stevens in the search box. 11 minute video.Thank you, Henry

Over 500 Hits 09/02/2005
Today two of my postings will break through 500 hits each. One is a poem, "My wish." The other is an article, "Brothers and Sisters." I am very happy about this for two reasons. First, because of all the material I have up on AuthorsDen.com these have been reader selected as being the most important. Secondly, the ideas expressed by each of these pieces are an expression of my way of doing things-my ideas of what I should be doing-my ideas of how I do my business and how I live my life. In both pieces I speak my mind openly and sincerely. Thank you readers of AuthorsDen.com. s/henry

CONGRATS! Glad you've reach the mark of a GRAND!
I keep taking off those with fewer and fewer hits,
but I still know when a work of mine is good, and
I'm sure you have other ways of knowing which of
yours are the better ones.
