The loss of a child is a forever wound

Dedicated to my step-daughter, only 22, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday, August 14, just 15 days from her 23rd b-day. She will be deeply missed.

Angel flew away
Off with her new wings
She flies above broken hearts and dreams
She flies away from all her pain and fear
To a safer place somewhere far from here

All I ask of her as she spreads her wings to fly
Is to know that for those who remain
It mattered that an Angel flew away

Leah
L ... is for the Love she gave us
E ... is for the Everything she was
A ... is for the Abscense we will feel now and
H ... is for the heart where she'll remain

I loved you Leah as if you were my own, you will always remain in my heart.

Love Mom
xoxo

Oh dear Rebecca I can relate....my heart bleeds for you!!

Thanks for sharing this outstanding tribute dear one!!

This was my poem 20 years later!!

Love Tinka

"After Twenty Years"

I am not sad today
Just somewhere
In utter gray space
I just feel light headed
Spaced out
My body has no substance
Within this gray fog
That allows no vision
I do not want to look back
Or ever feel this pain again
Because on the 24th day of May
The biggest pain ever came my way
My little girl did die on this day
She did not see the sun go down
But received her angel wings
By the side of God
To prepare a place
For those still to come

A very moving tribute to a lost in your life, and for all of us who have experinced a loss of loved ones, thanks for putting into writing, the thoughts of all our hearts.

Oh gosh Rebecca ... I am so sorry for this loss of a loved one.

The acrostic is heartrending, and the poem grips the heart in one of the worst things parents can ever face.

I can relate to this somewhat. I have a stepson who is in complete renal failure and on dialysis three times a week. He is 21 years old.

I pray for the peace that passes understanding for you and your loved ones.

Blessings to you ...

(((((Rebecca)))))),

I'm sorry for your loss. No mom should outlive her child...only 22? Sad...you are in my prayers.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
