Remember All The Heroes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember Them Today
By La Belle Rouge
On Memorial Day we remember with gratitude
those who paid the ultimate cost
in the service of our country.
We visit gravesites, write tributes,
simply pause from everyday activities
to spend time remembering, or we should.
Today when you celebrate
the greatness of America and her heroes
don't forget to be grateful
to the loved ones of soldiers
who have also paid the awful cost of war.
Remember the parents
who will never be grandparents
and the children left parentless.
Don't forget the young wives who spent
a lifetime trying to pick up the pieces
of her husband's life and emotions
Those who welcomed home a man
so different physically or mentally
than the one she knew before the war
Remember the children who never knew their father,
just a grave marker
or a shell of him all their lives
Remember the Vets who still suffer
from war related wounds and diseases
and those who still scream
with terror in their dreams.
So sad so immeasurable the loss...
to the dead and to the living.
On Memorial Day, and other days
let us never forget.
Yes, on Memorial day and the other days let us never forget.
Why is so that poets write what everybody feels?
A full of thanks poem.
Oh Sweet Sissy! This was a touching, beautifully expressed Love Offering! It pointed out the true downside of this Heartbreak Hell War! They give us so much and we give so little in return! I wish to say," THANK-YOU! Our Brave Heroes!, May GOD Bless and Keep You All!"
LOVE YOU! SC
You've spoken beautiful and heartfelt words here LaBelle. You're right..we must Never Forget. We must Never Forget many things but especially those that have not only given of their lives but those of their loved ones as well. A soldier never goes into battle alone, and he never comes back with all he went in with; If he comes back at all.
Bless them Each and Every One.
