There She Goes Again!

Learning To Smile Again
By La Belle Rouge

how long must a heart feel empty?
if love is a choice, life must be too
i long to be myself again
so tired of grieving over you

i don’t need a crutch
to help me stand upright
and i don’t need you to help me
make it through the night

i gave you all i had to give
nothing of myself held back
i loved you as i’d never loved before
and that’s just the honest fact

i asked you for only one thing
i wanted to have your heart
but you couldn’t give me all of it
and it was time for us to part

we’re so far apart now
not just in miles but in soul
and i don’t wanna cry forever
wanna come in out of the cold

so i think i’ll just choose life
and let the past go by
i think i deserve some laughter
and i no longer wanna cry

i couldn’t endure the pain
of limitations we lived each day
but i don’t plan to grieve forever
my spirit will find a way

a way to free myself from the pain
and go on with my life once more
a way to let the past be passed
as i lock you outside my door

and if living is truly a choice
i think i just might live
the ole gal aint dead yet
she still has much to give

walking the trail of tears
is growing mighty hard on my heart
so i think i’ll learn to smile again
and today’s a good place to start

Excellent write and self-expressive. We don't like pain and this poem is fille with it; it can make us miserable. You're done something about pain by writing a wonderfu expose on missed love.

La Belle Rouge,
Look at it on the positive side, you are writing beautiful poetry because of this loss. He was there for the exact amount of time he was suppose to be there. Tell your soul, that his soul has left the building and he ain't a comin, back!!! I have been in your shoes. It's been two long years of grieving the soul mate that wasn't ready. Soul mates can come and go, we have many, timing the key to successful uniting of souls. The timing was off this time, there will be another chance, perhaps in this lifetime, but more than likely not. Looking forward to your healing words of wisdom...they will be coming because you can only grow and learn from this experience..Peace lovely lady, you deserve much better..

Peace, Love, and Light,
