The Bloodshed is Endless.

HAMMAS Vs FATTAH…(©Peter Sprenkeler)

Both volatile…both armed…both uncompromising,
The two violent political forces of Palestine.
Spilling blood holds no compunction to either,
To hopelessness…the reality of the scenario does resign.

As if the dispute with Israel is not already enough,
They wantonly turn on their very own kind.
Masked and deadly as all villains generally are,
Political sanity is a trait of this nation…so hard to find.

They bristle with weaponry…until tempers flare as usual,
And generally the innocent are first to die.
The two parties are a curse to peace in the nation,
With accord and unity…neither is prepared to vie.

Anger and aggression…and sabre rattling,
Seems the only political ends they want to know.
Tribal and religious factions a historical constant,
Toward peace and democracy…neither want to go.

For the general public who long for peace,
Their hopes and dreams are an impossible illusion.
For the two violent parties that control this nation,
Hold nothing but death and violence and confusion.
